Beauty Review: milk_shake Active Milk Mask

I was cleaning up my beauty products and found this hair mask from milk_shake. I remembered I got it at a hairdresser a few months ago. However, I was slightly dissapointed about my hair after visiting this salon, that I put this product somewhere in my closet. After finding it this week, I decided to try it anyway, and regret not using it earlier! This Milk Mask is especially formulated for damaged or dry hair. The mask repairs and moisturise both the internal and external hair structure, leaving my hair smooth and soft after using it. The smell of the mask is very nice and you don't have to use a lot to cover your whole hair. The products of milk_shake are only available at hair salons at the moment or you can buy it online. If you have curls, like me, and your hair is sometimes dry and frizzy, I could certainly recommend it!

Beauty Review: Shimmer Cubes

Winter has officially started! These shimmer cubes from The Body Shop are perfect for a winter make-up look. This palette consists of 4 individual subtle, shimmery and soft eyeshadows called Chocolate Box, no. 06. The 4 seperate colours are not too sparkly and gives you just enough glow on your eyelids. The colours complements each other perfectly. You can create a subtle, warm eye look for during the day and a more party smokey eye look for when you go out. I think these cubes are lovely and I certainly recommend these!

NYC: City of Lights (Sorry Paris...)

From now and I will post pictures from New York City each week on Thursdays. This week's theme is of course Christmas time! In one of my previous posts, I already showed you the picture of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. I love seeing this metropolis decorated in million of lights, it gives such a great atmosphere. Several shops also decorated their store like Harry Winston Jewelers. Doesn't it look fabulous and all Christmassy! I love how NYC is decorating the city, somehow it will make people happier and sparklier in this winter season.

Decoration inspiration for the holidays!

I just realized that Christmas is only one week away! I haven't got the time yet to decorate the house properly! To get some inspiration I visit Pinterest and found some great decoration ideas. I love the decoration of wood and lights in the shape of a tree on the first picture, I think this is a perfect idea if you don't want to have a tree in your home. Are you already in the holiday mood?

3.1 Phillip Lim vs. Zara

We all love designer handbags, but sometimes the prices of these fabulous bags are serious business! I always loved the bags from 3.1 Phillip Lim, they are gorgeous! The leather trapeze bag is the ultimate every day tote and stands high on my wish list. When I was surfing on the Zara website yesterday, I came across this mini leather city bag and I was surprised how much it looked like the 3.1 Phillip Lim. I especially love the zippers on front of the bag, it is a great detail. The bag of Zara is only available in black while 3.1 Phillip Lim has many other gorgeous colours to choose from, however, you can never go wrong with a black tote. The price of the Zara bag is 79,95 compared to 840,00 of the 3.1 Phillip Lim bag. Don't you just love Zara!

Beauty Review: Watt's Up!

Let's talk about this highlighter from Benefit Cosmetics; Watt's Up! When I tried it, I was immediately enthusiastic. It is a great product! The colour of the highlighter is champagne, which suits every skin colour perfectly. Next to this, it is a cream and not a powder which is ideal for a skin that is a bit dry, like mine.

Just simply apply it on your cheeks. You can also gilde it on your brow bones. On the other side of the stick there is a sponge applicator to blend it. Honestly, this sponge is not really necessary, you can also use your fingertips.

The glow is really subtle and natural looking, you can easily wear it during the day. Finally, I know it´s not the most important thing, but not entirely unnecessary; the packaging. Again, this looks fantastic, like every product from Benefit! Conclusion; I recommend this product for sure!

Colour 2014: Radiant Orchid

Every year Pantone, the world-renowned authority on colour, gives us THE colour of the year. For 2014 this will be Radiant Orchid. Wauw I love it! This colour will certainly stand out in fashion. Think of all the accessories in this vivid colour. I am not sure whether men will be attracted to this colour, but who knows!

Home Deco Inspiration

I love to surf on the internet for hours to find inspiration for my home. As mentioned before I love pastel colours, especially (Tiffany) blue. You combine it perfectly with white and other pastels.

It happens so that I have an empty white wall left and don't know what to do with it. However, the black and white pictures on the first photo inspired me. Not only can you frame pictures but also inspirational quotes! Together it will make a great wall which will be the center of attention in your home. What is your favourite home decoration Style?

Home accessories gifts

Today I show you my pick for home accessories gifts. I love shopping for my home. There are so many great and fun accessories to Style your home with and they don't have to be expensive. I love the chalk teapot rack to hang in the kitchen for your towels. The big memo board with the world map to dream about your next travel destination, is perfect for an office.

Since I am a big fan of sushi, the plate of Blond Amsterdam is perfect, same counts for the chopsticks; now you have a good reason to make sushi at home. The butterflies to place on the wall are a great addition to a slightly boring wall. I have them myself and placed them on a wall in the bedroom and it has a great effect. The bird house to hang your keys is one of my personal favourites. Finally the cooking books of Lorraine Pascale are great. I love her baking and cooking Style!

I hope you are inspired, next list is all about fashion!

Well, you can stop stressing, I already collected the perfect gifts to give (or keep for yourself, that is also perfectly fine). This time I show you my tips for beauty products. YSL lips for Christmas

The latest addition to my lipstick department is this gorgeous lipstick from YSL - rouge volupte, red muse. I am so happy with it! The colour is perfect for the holidays. The lipstick is so silky and light; you don't notice that you are wearing any and it lasts a long time. The pigment is amazing, I only have to apply it on my bottom lip and then rub my lips together. The texture is also hydrating so your lips won't dry out. I am not a big fan of the packaging, it looks luxurious but also a bit tacky in my eyes, however, I higly recommend this lipstick. The price tag is quite high, but, especially in this month, there are great discounts shops offer. I got mine with 40% discount. Now, the big question is, do I prefer my oh so beloved Marc Jacobs lipstick, or did I switch to YSL. There are almost no differences, but (I am sorry MJ), I think the lipstick of YSL lasts longer. Having said that, the packaging of Marc Jacobs is way more beautiful.

NYC's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Yesterday a 76-foot Christmas tree was set to lit at Rockefeller Center in NYC. A 75-year old tree was illuminated by 45,000 multi-coloured LED lights and topped with no less than a Swarovski star. It looks fabulous!

I came across this picture of the first Christmas tree which was set up in 1931 by workers who were building Rockefeller Center. I think this is such a great picture. Nowadays, Christmas time becomes such a circus and everything needs to be bigger, better and more fabulous than last year (I have to admit honestly that I join this circus now and then as well). This picture shows the simplicity of life back then with a slightly messy decorated tree and no festive activities. That is why I love old pictures; they show you how times were before everything we know nowadays and the convenience we live with.

Are you having a Christmas tree this year?

Christmas Clutches

The holiday month started and this means a month full of Christmas parties, office drinks, meeting up with family and friends, and let's not forget New Years Eve! This month allows you to dress up and wear your most fabulous dress. To complete your perfect party outfit, you can not forget a gorgeous clutch. Personally I love clutches. A black clutch complements almost every outfit, however, when you are wearing a black dress, a coloured clutch is perfect to combine it with. What is your favourite clutch? Mine are definitely number 2, 5, 7, 10 and 13 (too many gorgeous clutches, I can't choose, help!)

Want it Wednesday

I said it before and will say it again: I miss Sephora here in the Netherlands! Why oh why did they have to close all the branches? Now I miss this beautiful holiday set of Marc Jacobs! This 7-piece holiday set consists of a mini rollerball of Honey, brand new Style Eye con No.3 in The Star, Lust of Lacquer Sheer Lip Vinyl in Kiss as well as the Magic Marc'er Precision Pen and Lash Lifter Gel Mascara. Let's not forget the makeup bag designed by Marc Jacobs himself. For the lucky ones who can still shop at Sephora (I promise I don't hate you....okay, maybe just a little..) you can buy this pretty gift set here

Made in Britain: A Perfect Bag

My latest addition to my handbag collection is this brown leather classic satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company and I am in love with it! I went for the The Classic 13 inch and it is perfect. The bag is made from 100% leather and has an adjustable shoulder strap with nickel plated hardware. The colour, vintage, is one of the most popular colours, however, there are many gorgeous colours to choose from. One of the things I love about this bag is that you can personalise it, which you see a lot nowadays. You can choose from 4 different embossing Styles which are; black, blind, gold and silver. I choose for blind embossing and it makes the bag even more perfect. At the moment the company presents free worldwide delivery on bags, so order your Christmas gift now!

The company is a real family business and is established in 2008. From creating the satchel at the kitchen table to pay school fees, the company is now selling to 70 different countries. I found 2 clips about the company which are definitely worth watching.

Hart of Dixie Style

I always have been a fan of Rachel Bilson since she was playing in The O.C. Anyone else here who was totally addicted to that show? I was so happy that Rachel Bilson returned to television and is playing the starring role in Hart of Dixie. The show is already at its third season. I still love the show and with that all the outfits Doctor Zoe Hart is wearing!

Her Style is classy and simple. However, with her short shorts and skirts a bid edgy. Colourwise her Style is quite neutral, but the clothes have great graphics. She is not wearing a lot of accessories, but always carry a bag (Hello Chanel!). She is totally bringing the New York vibe into Bluebell! Which outfit of Zoe Hart do you prefer? For me definitely nr. 6 with the great black and white graphic top and the one with the fabulous cape in the snow!

Grandiose Gift Sets

The best thing about this time of the year is that you can purchase all kinds of pretty gift sets. Also Benefit introduced limited edition holiday sets, you can find them here. These sets are great and colourful and honestly, you almost want to buy them solely for the packaging...

I can recommend the products from Benefit while I use the Fakeup, hydrating crease-control concealer, the Hellow Flawless custom powder, the instant brow pencil and of course one of the best mascara's at the moment: they're real!. For me the concealer and mascara are certainly the best and I definitely cannot leave the house without! What are your thoughts about Benefit cosmetics?

Musthave Bag Spring 2014

The winter has yet to begin and I am already looking for bags for spring 2014. What do you think of this Proenza Schouler PS11 Classic shoulder bag? I am a big fan of Proenza Schouler for quite some time now. I think the bags are classic yet contemporary, especially in the pastel shades for spring 2014. I am happy that the details are in silver and not gold-coloured like you see a lot nowadays. This yellow pastel shade is the perfect spring colour combined with a white and grey outfit. So, don't you think it would be a great idea to skip winter and move on to spring immediately?!

Dots and daisies

Oooh I do miss Sephora badly here in The Netherlands. I still don't know why they closed all the branches earlier this year, what were they thinking!

Every now and then I visit their website to stay posted. I came across this great limited edition gift set of Marc Jacobs fragrances. The set consists of three perfume rollerballs; Daisy, Daisy Eau So Fresh and DOT. I think this set is just perfect. The packaging of the gift set and the rollerballs look lovely with the dots and daisies. You can easily vary from fragrance and it happens so that I can speak from experience that all three perfumes are smelling awesome!

You can buy this great set here

Sunday Shopping

I hope you all had a great weekend! I did a little shopping yesterday and bought a few nice items. It was extremely busy in the shops so in the evening I went further shopping online and found the white t-shirt, leather skirt and the rings. Unfortunately, the t-shirt and rings were not available anymore.

Hopefully the leather skirt will fit, you never know when you order online. I think it will look great with the t-shirt and a vest or with the sweater. I will let you know! What do you think of these Styles for fall?

Countdown to the weekend

It is almost weekend! What are your plans? Mine consist of family visits, attending birthday parties, having sushi at my favourite place and who knows what else!

Have a great weekend everyone! Enjoy!

Beautiful Braids

I always have a love-hate relationship with my hair. I like my curls but sometimes they have a life of their own. When I am at home and have nowhere to go, my curls are perfect, but of course when I go out it is a mess.

I love these braids and wish I could braid my own hair like this! I especially love the Style on picture 3 and 5. The combination of braids with a messy bun is perfect. What do you think of these braids Styles?

Vintage New York City

Here are just a few great pictures I found while surfing on the internet. I think these are so interesting and make me extremely curious how the lives where back then. On the pictures it looks all charming, but I bet the people had a tough live. I found more interesting pictures, but I will save those for later.

This is believed to be the earliest photograph of NYC. It is taken in May 1850 at Broadway between Franklin and Leonard Streets. I am always interested in history and especially the history of a big city like New York. It is interesting to see how a city developed from a small village to a metropole. Look at the buildings at the left which are built in a great style. And at the right it looks like there are restaurants or shops.

This is the largest private residence ever built in New York City and was owned by Cornelius Vanderbilt II. The mansion stood at Fifth Avenue and 58th Street from 1883 to 1927, after which it was bulldozed to make way for Bergdorf Goodman. The gate in front of the mansion was saved and is now the main entrance to Central Park's Conservatory Garden. The mansion looks enormous and I am so curious how the it looked inside, think of all the great treasures you will find. Do you see the oldtimer on the left, how lovely!

This is one of my favourite streets in NYC; Bleecker Street. This picture was taken in 1925 when the neighbourhood was Italian with groceries, fish stores and bakeries. The building is located on Bleecker and Christopher Streets. According to one of my favourite websites, it is a grocery shop and the crates are placed in the shade of the canopy. I love this picture and who could thought back then that this street is now the place to be to buy your designer handbag or eat a delicious cupcake.

Can you guess which place in NYC this is? It is Times Square when the Times building was finished in 1908. Look at the space! Nowadays Times Square is packed with tourists, shops and traffic. Back then, the people took it easy with their carriages with 3 horses (see left). The greatest thing about this picture is the gentlemen with the stylish hat who is posing in front of the Times building; 105 years later we are still doing this!
